resurrection

I'm back in the "I want to post pictures just because" mode. No stories. No explanations. No memes. No themes. Just cuz. I've updated my url as well as the sidebar links. There will be no rhyme or reason. No consistency. Just photos. Just when I feel like it.

64/365 russian olive

Sadly, a couple of neighbors have had to have huge trees removed in their front yards. This was the Russian Olive that was next door, but was already dead last year. Apparently the roots have started to lift and we sure don't need it to land on anyone's vehicle. But it's still so heartbreaking to lose such a large tree. I'm sure they'll really miss the shade it offers on summer mornings.

201-365 apricot harvest

Last year, this tree offered beautiful, fragrant flowers for a few days. Ditto this year. I had absolutely no idea that it had an abundance of apricots to offer, too.

BTW, that's my almost 6' tall son down there. Quite a reach!

I'm so excited that our apple trees are looking so wonderful. However. We have a small, furry, brown problem that I have to figure out how to deal with this year. Remember my little beggar from a couple days ago? Last year, the squirrels took a bite or two out of every single apple, long before they were ripe, then cast them to the ground. Time for a creative solution so we can enjoy the fruit of our trees this year.

365-3 tree ornament

3 tree ornament

Every year before Christmas, we get a new ornament for each of the boys. This year, while at a local craft fair, I picked up trees that are special Colorado ornaments. They're made of wood from the Hayman Burn area and the edges are trimmed in crushed turquoise from Cripple Creek.

wordless wednesday: red

How about a patriotic scene? Red, white, and blue.

This is my last entry in this week's theme for Carmi's Thematic Photographic: Nature. Of course, it's Wordless Wednesday (and here I am - typing words) so you can check out all the other great WW entries here, here, and here.
