365-24 earring memories

24 earrings

I've been cleaning out my jewelry box and found that these porcelain earrings brought a host of memories to mind. I purchased them at a craft fair while working for Hewlett-Packard a little over 20 years ago. They perfectly matched a sweater that my mom knitted for me. It was my favorite, and I wore it quite often. Both went well with a pair of blue & white capris. I finished it off with a pair of white canvas tennies.

There are a myriad of bunny trail memories that all diverge from those earrings and that particular outfit, but there are two that are significant to me.

This would be the outfit I was wearing the day I stepped into Taco Bell with my cousin, seconds before the Loma Prieta Earthquake hit. It's very different to be IN the midst of a disaster. We were fine, but it was rather jolting to discover that the earth we believe is so solid and stable can shake and move beneath our very feet.

Secondly, any memories with my cousin are even more precious because she's no longer here. She had the ultimate healing from breast cancer as God took her to heaven and gave her a new body. I miss her, but would never wish her out of the presence of Jesus.

I hardly wear any earrings these days, not even this pair. But I can't bring myself to part with them.

Great detail in that close-up. Lovely memories, too. I can understand why you keep the earrings.

Those are some very pretty earrings and I know I wouldn't be parting with them either if they held those sweet memories for me. An earthquake would definitely be an experience...I just pray I never experience it.
