Amazing Colorado Sunset

These are all from the same sunset. It changed moment by moment and I couldn't stop shooting. I took over 100 images total. All are SOOC.

200/365 bike rack

Our local fine art museum and school of art has a number of yarn bombs on the campus. This is one of the newer installments.

40/365 daily beauty

This is not a photograph that was taken to employ my photography knowledge. In fact, I don't think I gave much thought to white balance, ISO, lighting, f-stops, composition, or anything else.

I took it because it's a part of the daily beauty in my life.

It's so easy to take things for granted. I'm working at not doing that quite so much. One thing that I'm more apt to take notice of is how absolutely beautiful it is to live in Colorado Springs. Having grown up here, I forget that not everyone has amazing mountains in their view, almost every day. I'm still captured when I see the Rockies, Pikes Peak in particular, from various angles, depending upon what part of town I'm in. So even though there are buildings and businesses and traffic and power lines, this is a part of what always appears on the horizon of my day.

I'm always blown away by the depths of blue in our skies and our mountains. God is a remarkable Artist and Creator.

298-365 elk audience

Of course, when you have all these elk showing off on an annual basis, there's bound to be some elk paparazzi.

297-365 elk

Rocky Mountain National park is well-known for the elk in the fall. What's especially funny, though, is that elk bugling is rather a misnomer. It sounds more like elk squeaking. But it's still awesome to see all those elk hanging out. Even though I've lived in Colorado the majority of my life, this was the first time to see them.

294-365 the music room

I absolutely love the Stanley Hotel. It's so beautiful. I could've taken many, many more photos than I did. But my most favorite room of all is the Music Room. The windows, the light, the wood, the view . . . absolutely stunning.

I could just imagine a lovely recital or formal ball held here. Perhaps a cozy Christmas party, overlooking the snow-covered mountains. Of course, it would also be an amazing room for portraiture.

I love that even a basic trip up the interstate includes such gorgeous scenery.
