Four years ago, I began this grand adventure of homeschool with ClayGuy as he began the 6th grade. We were using KONOS which is a unit study curriculum and our first unit was Pottery & Sculpture. One of his assignments was to make a sculpture out of clay. He created this sweet little girl bear in purple, gave her a charming sign, and secretly left her on top of my computer monitor. Isn't she just the cutest little thing? Talk about melting my heart. Even though I knew it wouldn't always be so blissfully wonderful to be a homeschool mom, this particular memory always would be.
"To the gratest mom and teacher"
It doesn't get any better than that.
Stepping back a little further in the Way Back Machine, we arrive at Mother's Day, circa 2001. The Comedian was a cute little kindergartner. For the holiday, he decorated a clay pot and planted a spider plant for me. Yes, the plant has totally outgrown the pot, but I can't bring myself to replant it. The plant has been knocked over, chewed on and pulled by the cat. But I just push it back down in and water it. How could I not keep it in that pot? It's so cute and sweet.
It says "Happy Mother's Day" around the rim.
He even decorated it with a little spider.
Isn't that just precious?

File these under "Things That Make Ya Go 'Awww...'". All that's missing is a puppy.
What priceless treasures! I'd be like you with the flower pot... I've lost much of my sentimentality... but not for something like that.
Those are indeed great items! That plant was meant to be in that pot... ;)

That is just precious! Lucky you… and lucky him to have you!
So you taught the unit on sculpture - I'd say very well looking at the piece he made!
So sweet he left it for you to find.
Loved the little spider on the pot for the 'spider plant' - so precious.

Great stories, sentimental items and photos. Thank you so much for sharing! I absolutely love the little sculpture...too, too cute!
Our kids just rock our worlds, don't they?
That was beautiful.
A mother's most priceless treasures are often the simplest.
My own mother still has a "diamond" ring I made for her out of playdough when I was about three. She keeps it right in her jewelry box.
These are real treasures ! so adorable, it shows that they love you and that is more important even then the object itself !
This makes me look forward to future Father's Day gifts I might receive from Lily. Wonderful post Dianne. Thanks for letting us in on this one.
These are both absolutely precious!
